Soup of the day - Please ask a member of staff or see our blackboard for our homemade soup of the day. Served with chunks of crusty bread.

Pate - Chefs chicken liver pate served with toast or crusty bread and red onion chutney.

Olives & Oil - Green and black pitted olives served with Virgin Olive Oil & balsamic dressing, seasonal side salad and crusty bread.

Mediterranean Salad - Mixed leaves, tomato, cucumber, radish, onion, peppers, feta cheese, olives, mango and strawberries.

Smoked Mackerel - Warm locally smoked mackerel served with seasonal side salad and crusty bread.

Black Pudding & Bacon Stack - Served atop a crispy crouton with mustard & cream sauce.

All our main meals are freshly prepared to order and unless otherwise stated are served with seasonal vegetables and your choice of mashed, baby new or jacket potato, or chips.

Homemade Steak & Ale Pie - Slow cooked beef steak in dark stout with onions and herbs served in an individual dish with a puff pastry top hat.

Savoury Mince & Onion Pie - Our chefs own recipe which includes red wine and a little garlic and herbs served in an individual dish with a puff pastry top hat.

Lasagne - Chefs own recipe beef lasagne served with a generous ciabatta garlic bread and salad.

Quiche - Chefs renowned homemade quiche of the day, served with salad and homemade coleslaw or your choice of potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Omelette - Made with three free range eggs and your choice of filling and served with salad or your choice of potatoes, choose from: Cheddar Cheese, Mushroom Bacon, Sausage & Onion

Cumberland Sausage - A traditional 6oz* Cumberland sausage served with free range eggs, grilled tomato & garden peas.

Gammon Steak - A thick 8oz* gammon steak served with fried eggs and/or pineapple and garden peas.

Battered Haddock - Freshly battered haddock fillet served with chips and a choice of garden or mushy peas.

Breaded Plaice - Served with chips and a choice of garden or mushy peas.

Whole Tail Scampi - A generous portion of whole tail scampi served with chips and a choice of garden or mushy peas.

Homemade Burger - 6oz* of beef steak seasoned, shaped, griddled and served in a warm bun with chips and mixed salad. *approximate weight uncooked. Option to add cheese.

Local Game Burger - Our local game burger made with Venison, Partridge, Pheasant, Pidgeon, Teal & Mallard served in a warm bun with chips, mixed salad and relish.

We have a selection of homemade and handmade cakes and desserts, as well as Mrs Dowsons Dairy Ice Cream in a range of flavours, available daily. Please ask a member of staff or see our chilled cabinet and cake stands.

Panini - Your choice of tasty filling served in a warm toasted Panini with generous side salad and homemade coleslaw.

Ham, Cheese and Tomato - Roasted ham with the finest mature cheddar and sliced tomato.

Chicken, Chorizo Sausage and Cheese - Warm chicken breast, thinly sliced chorizo sausage and cheddar cheese.

Cumberland Sausage, Cheese and Onion - Sliced traditional Cumberland with strong cheddar cheese and red onion chutney.

Mozzarella, Tomato, onion and Pesto - Suitable for vegetarians, thick slices of mozzarella and tomato with red onion and pesto.

Bacon, Brie and Cranberry - A delicious combination of smoked bacon and soft brie finished with sweet cranberry sauce.

Served on white or brown sliced bread with a side order of homemade coleslaw and salad.

Breakfast is served at the Lantern Café Bistro until 11.45am daily. All our breakfasts are cooked to order using the finest local ingredients including free range eggs.

Full English Breakfast - Not for the faint hearted

Breakfast Sandwiches - Choose from the following to create your perfect breakfast sandwich. Eat in or ‘to go’ Bacon, Egg, Sausage, Black Pudding, Tomato, Mushrooms, Hash Brown. Served in a white bap or your choice of white or brown bread or toast.

Cold Drinks (330ml) - Coke, diet Coke, Fanta/Tango, Vimto, 7 Up, Cloudy Lemonade.

Milk Shake - Strawberry, Raspberry, Chocolate or Banana – made with a scoop of Mrs Dowsons Dairy Ice Cream.
